0 D.I.Y: Colorful brass paper fasteners

Hey there!
These days have been such a collection of shades of grey, so I thought I should give it some colors! Not that I don't like grey-ish days, they please me a lot, actually. Maybe for the fact that we don't have them that often here in northeastern Brazil, therefore it's hot most of the time, so any fall in temperature is very welcome for us.
The only thing is that grey days have a melancholy and, sometimes, nostalgic appeal by nature. But since we are not, or, at least shouldn't be in melancholic mood all the time, add some colors for those days is always a good idea.
The tutorial is stupidly easy as you can assume by this picture:

Things you will need:
1 = Nail polish in any color you fancy
2 = Brass paper fasteners

You just need to grab the brass paper fasteners and paint them. Depending on the consistency you might need to paint it twice or even three time and if you please a more soft finish, you just need to apply top coat aftewards and wait it to dry and TADA! It's done!
Yes, it is that simple and practical! And it only takes you about 30 to 60 minutes depending on how much paper fasteners you paint. Plus, it give a really cute and charming touch on envelopes we usually give away with presents, letters..

Estes dias têm sido uma coleção de tons de cinza, então eu pensei que eu deveria dar-lhe algumas cores! Não é que eu não gosto de dias cinzentos, que por favor me muito, na verdade. Talvez pelo fato de que não temos eles que muitas vezes aqui no nordeste do Brasil por isso é quente a maior parte do tempo, portanto, qualquer queda de temperatura é muito bem-vinda para nós.
A única coisa é que os dias cinzentos têm um apelo melancólico e, às vezes, nostálgico por natureza. Mas uma vez que não somos, ou pelo menos não deveríamos ser melancólicos o tempo todo, adicionar algumas cores para estes dias é sempre uma boa idéia.
O tutorial é estupidamente fácil, como você pode supor pela foto.


Coisas que você vai precisar:
1 = Esmalte em qualquer cor que você desejar
2 = Prendedores de papel

Você só precisa ter pegar os prendedores de papel e pintá-los. Dependendo da consistência, você pode precisar pintar os prendedores duas ou até três vezes e se quiser um acabamento mais suave, você só precisa aplicar base e esperar que seque e TADA! Está feito!
Sim, é tão simples e prático! E leva cerca de 30 a 60 minutos apenas, dependendo da quantidade de prendedores de papel que você pintar. Além disso, dão um toque muito bonito e charmoso em envelopes que costumamos dar com presentes, cartas..

Today the topic I decided to share with you was music. I am crazy about music, and who isn't, right? I think music can touch our emotions, memories, feelings in a way anything else can. Music has a really special meaning for me because it helped me get through difficult phases of my life, it was there for me when no one else was, but this is not a dramatic post about life problems, don't worry. This post is about an amazing dicovery I made these days. There are always songs on my mind and this week "You're the One That I Want" by the famous musical Grease (1978) was the "song of the time", the music is one of my favorites of the soundtrack, by the way. So I went on youtube to hear the song and after listen to it I decided I wanted to hear the same song but in a different version, I always use to look for covers of songs I really like, which is also a great way to discover amazing new bands. And sometimes, the covers happens to be more nice than the original version itself, but that's a topic for another post. Long story short, I ended up finding this amazing cover by Sacha Page:

It really amazed me, i don't know exactly why, maybe it was his echanting voice or perhaps the guitar riffs that added a simple and charming atmosphere to the video that is also simple but really charming. Anyway, I also don't want to find out because then it may loose it's magic. 

Unfortunatelly there is not much about him or his work on the internet, aparently. But I could find his myspace with a few songs and if you liked and wants to listen more, just type his name on youtube and you will see another (awesome) covers like "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor or "Heart In a Cage" by The Strokes and songs of his own as well. I hope you all enjoy it.

Hoje, o tema que eu resolvi compartilhar com vocês é música. Eu sou louca por música, e quem não é, né? Eu acho que a música pode tocar nossas emoções, memórias, sentimentos de uma maneira nada pode. A música tem um significado muito especial para mim, porque ela me ajudou a passar por fases difíceis da minha vida, ela estava lá por mim quando não havia mais ninguém, mas isso não é um post dramático sobre os problemas da vida, não se preocupe. Este post é sobre uma desoberta incrível que eu fiz esses dias. Há sempre alguma música em minha mente, e esta semana "You Are the One That I Want" do famoso musical Grease (1978) foi a "música da vez", uma das minhas favoritas da trilha sonora, à propósito. Então eu fui no youtube para ouvir a música e depois de ouvi-la, decidi que eu queria ouvir a mesma música, mas em uma versão diferente, eu costumo sempre procurar covers de músicas que eu gosto muito, o que também é uma ótima maneira de descobrir novas bandas incríveis. E algumas vezes, o cover passa a ser mais agradável do que a versão original, mas isso é assunto para outro post. Longa história curta, acabei encontrando este cover incrível por Sacha Page.

Realmente me surpreendeu, eu não sei exatamente o porquê, talvez tenha sido a sua voz encantadora ou, talvez, os riffs de violão que acrescentou uma atmosfera simples e charmosa ao vídeo, que também é simples, mas muito charmoso. De qualquer forma, eu também não quero saber, porque então ele pode perder sua magia.

Infelizmente não há muito sobre ele ou o trabalho dele na internet, aparentemente. Mas eu pude encontrar o seu myspace com algumas músicas e se você gostou e quer   ouvir mais, basta digitar o nome dele no youtube e você verá outros (incríveis) covers como "I Will Survive" de Gloria Gaynor ou "Heart In a Cage " dos The Strokes e algumas canções autorais também. Espero que todos vocês gostem.

1 The pressure of the first post

First experiences are always something frightening and exciting, aren't they? It's a mix of euphoria with fear, at least for the person who writes to you in this exact moment. 

I always liked the idea of having a blog, of  share knowledge, experiences, culture, tips. I think that's something really nice and life-changing somehow, and there are just a few things more rewarding than see someone apreciating a book, or a recipe or a music of your favorite band you just introduced them to. 

I've been a blog reader for long years of my short life and recently the "why i just don't start a blog of my own"-question didn't stop wondering through my mind, so i decided to give it a chance and here i am! 

Here i hope you will find good food, good music, nice projects and some drawings as well and everything else i find nice and worth sharing. I hope you have a nice time reading this blog as much as i am sure i will have writing it.

Primeiras experiências são sempre algo amedrontador e excitante, não são? É um mix de euforia com medo, pelo menos para a pessoa vos escreve nesse exato momento.

Eu sempre gostei da ideia de ter um blog, de compartilhar conhecimento, experiências, cultura, dicas. Eu acho que isso é algo realmente legal e que muda a vida da gente de alguma forma, e há apenas poucas coisas mais gratificantes do que ver alguém apreciando um livro, uma receita ou uma música da sua banda favorita que você apresentou à ela.

Eu tenho sido uma leitora de blogs por longos anos da minha vida curta vida e recentemente a pergunta "porque eu não começo um blog meu?" não parou de vagar pela minha mente, então eu decidi dar isso uma chance e cá estou eu!

Aqui eu espero que você possa encontrar boa comida, boa música, projetos legais e alguns desenhos também e tudo mais que eu achar legal e que valha a pena compartilhar. Eu espero que você tenha um bom tempo lendo esse blog tanto quanto eu tenho certeza de que eu irei ter escrevendo nele.
